If you're not touring or gigging any great distances you or your manager If you have one) can read "area" as town or even venue. Either way, give your audiences time to build up their appetites for your next visit.
Many bands I talk to have found this especially useful if they aren't changing their sets very often. The more bands that have appeared at a venue in between each time you place, the less chance the crowd (or bar staff) will remember the order of your band's every move or note.
Don't forget playing somewhere every 6 weeks will still allow you to appear there 8 times a year. You only need a few of those regular venues (about 6) to be out virtually every weekend in any year....
