Many musicians come to the Gig-Getter site seeking info on how to attract band management. I always point out that if they're having trouble attracting a band manager, or their current one isn't performing then upping the number of gigs they play will generally be a big help.
It's easy to see why really. Not only will constant gigging hone your playing ability and tightness of the band, but also if you handle it right, it can create a "buzz" about your band. How much more attractive to a potential manager does a band that's out every night look to a potential manager than one which rarely plays live?
So learn how to get your own gigs, and lots of them. Learn also how to build your fan base through gigging and communicating on line with the people who come to watch you.
Here's piece I came across which offers some advice on band management. One point I really liked is that your manager must be "into" your music. Yes, he needs to know how to do the business, how to promote you, but you need him (or her) to do this with the enthusiasm that only a "fan" can have.
